'Everything Changed, Then Changed Again' features portraiture of women in transition, in locations undergoing their own transformation in and around Pittsburgh. Having grown up in Miami and Atlanta, I was not accustomed to Pittsburgh's long and isolating winters.  I started this project in the midst of my second winter here, wanting to connect with people and build friendships.

There were a few locations I selected, but most often the subjects choose a place that is evolving or that is significant to them. It revealed a facet of their life we could discuss and explore, and is a great way of forming bonds and creating substantial, meaningful work.

These photographs document my attempt to build a community here and familiarize myself with the diverse and complex landscape. Through capturing these wonderful women on film, my own renewal is explored.
